What is offset printing

Offset printing is a printing technique that involves transferring ink from a metal plate to a rubber blanket, and then to the printing surface. It is called “offset” because the ink is not directly transferred to the paper, but rather offsets or transfers onto another surface before being printed onto the final substrate.

This process is based on the principle that water and ink do not mix, and relies on the use of separate plates for each color. As the paper passes through the press, each plate is used to apply a specific color to the paper in a precise registration, creating a full-color print.

Offset printing is known for its high image quality, color accuracy, and versatility in handling a wide range of paper types and thicknesses. It is commonly used for commercial printing projects such as brochures, books, magazines, catalogs, and packaging materials.
